Welcome Home

We have all felt as if we don’t belong.

The nagging thought that we don’t fit in wherever we go.

But the truth is we just haven’t found our place yet, we’re just searching for people who encourage us to be unique.

Fortunately, I am here to tell you, this is a place for misfits and oddballs alike. If you have ever been called a nerd, you have been asked to “pause” an online game or you can give a detailed description of why Batman could kick Superman’s ass (or vice versa) you have come to the right place. My team and I have been working together to create an atmosphere where enthusiasts of games, movies, comics and all other forms of entertainment can come to read about, discuss and hear about their favorite things in life. Welcome to Misfit’s Tavern!

My name is JJ (try and guess what that stands for) and I am excited to be continuing the week of introductions. You have already met Mo, our team’s self-proclaimed weirdo.  Now it is my turn. Here at Misfit’s Tavern, we not only want to be successful, we want our fans and community to get to know us and enjoy hearing from us each week.

I was born and raised in a small town called Washingtonville, on Sesame Street. I shit you not, that was my real street. My town was very small and spaced out, for example, I literally passed three farms on my way to school every day. Aside from seeing my friends at school, I didn’t have much of a social life when I was younger. Due to this, I turned to TV and video games to be my best buds. I guess that’s why I always considered myself somewhat of a nerd. My first video game was the original SpyFox for pc and I made my debut into consoles with Spider-Man for the PlayStation 1. After that, it was “game over”, I’ve been gaming ever since. In regards to television, Saturday was my holy day, the morning cartoons were on as soon as they started and would stay on all day. It was then that I discovered my inexplicable love for Batman. The caped crusader always impressed me, in that he could kick so much ass without superpowers, it took me a few years to realize being rich as hell helped him in that department.

My interest in movies came a little later, however, it has only grown over the years. Nothing feels as good as seeing an awesome or obscure movie you love and talking to others that love it just as much. So if you love movies as much as me, you’ll be delighted to know that I rarely shut up when it comes to them. I love cult films, thrillers, crazy twists, horror films, action movies and fantasy based flicks. Game of Thrones has been a passion of mine for a while now. Since season seven just ended I have been having withdrawals, so I began reading the books. Now when the Final season premieres I can be one of those people you always hear saying “the shows not as good as the book.” I also love when people suggest new shows/movies/games for me to check out, so if there is something you want me to talk or write about, just let me know!

To further your trivia knowledge regarding myself, here’s a list of some games/shows/movies and other things that I enjoy and do:

I hope this post helped you get to know me. Let me know what you thought in the comments or through our social media accounts that you can subscribe to on the side! Keep an eye out this week for introductions featuring our other two co-hosts: Jared and Nick, as well as our weekly posts about your favorite forms of entertainment.

To close my introduction, I would like to speak directly to you, the reader, a prospective member of our growing community. You are and always will be welcome here, no one will ever tell you that you do not belong. To quote the picture at the top of this post “If you don’t belong, don’t belong.” I love this quote because it speaks volumes to us “nerds.” We have been told we don’t belong countless times, so why should we try to belong? We are meant to stand out and band together. Let’s make this community somewhere we all belong, let’s make Misfit’s Tavern somewhere all the oddballs can call home. So to all my fellow misfits, I am overwhelmingly pleased to say:

Welcome Home.
